My name is Jilly and I live with my small dog Freddy in the picturesque village of Alfriston in the middle of the South Downs National Park. I ‘retired’ from the media industry 8 years ago. I ran a video post-production company in London specialising in TV and music.

I live in a pretty little Victorian house in the centre of the village, enjoy growing my own vegetable and herbs, cooking and walking in the beautiful countryside surrounding me.

On leaving London I was asked to teach a Parisian friend’s daughter English, I loved it so much I decided to retrain and have been enjoying it ever since.

I am very happy of this experience. Thanks to this trip I discovered a great part of english culture.

I didn’t improve my english very well just because i didn’t stay enough time in Jilly’s home. I would like to come back to see my friend Jilly and his beautiful dog Fred !

    Thanks Jilly

To learn and pratice in a foreign Country is the best way of teaching. There is no Chance to talk your own mothertongue but you have to speak 24h a day the English language. At the end of the stay I was dreaming in English.
And to live and work with a wonderful teacher makes it more easy. I would recommend learning in this way to everybody.

It was an excellent experience. Jilly is an wonderful and amazing educator, facilitator of continuous learning and She made me feel at home. I learned a lot, both to how to study English and to improve my written and spoken English as well as understand it better is my weakest point. Taught me how to learn English and assimilate it in a fun way. Would have loved to return to Alfriston to some other time some weeks, but the economic situation and the workload in Spain have not allowed me it so far. But I not abandon that possibility as soon as possible. I have a lot of pictures of Alfriston and all Journey (Seaford, Brighton, London!!, Lewis, landscape, etc….)

To stay at Jilly´s house and the lovely Alfriston town was quite an experience I don´t want to miss. If you love talking to people, good coffee, walking with ocean view Jilly is the best option to improve your language skills. Have fun!
